G. Richard "Dick" Ambrosius
If you are searching for motivational speaker with specialized expertise in marketing to and serving older consumers (Yes, that includes the leading edge of the Baby Boom), Ambrosius is on the “short list” of professionals that were encouraging businesses and nonprofit organizations to embrace a new marketing paradigm long before it was trendy. Dick began his motivational advocacy for positive aging in 1981 by forming one of the first consulting firms to specialize in marketing to middle age and older adults.
Ambrosius currently serves as Vice President of Communications, Coaching and Culture for PRAXEIS, LLC in Jacksonville, FL. His role is providing the educational programs, coaching and communications materials necessary to create Life Fulfilling Communities, the trademarked operational model of PRAXEIS.
Even before discovering the untapped potential of an aging market, he embraced public speaking and as a member of Toastmasters in 1974 and won his very first storytelling competition. Since then, educating, entertaining and telling stories has been his first love…and telling them to older audiences has become special part of his business.
Dick is a nationally recognized authority on how changing demographics are impacting sales, marketing, management practices; customer service. He has helped numerous companies and organizations adapt systems and embrace processes to attract and serve the New Consumer Majority of adults age 45 and older. He has educated, motivated and entertained thousands; conducted focus groups for and consulted with a wide variety of businesses, corporations, nonprofits, associations and government agencies in 49 states.
He served as Executive Director of an Area Agency on Aging in Northwest Iowa from 1976-1982. In 1978, he planned and coordinated a National Strategy Conference on Aging Issues attended by delegates from all 50 states. He has testified before both houses of Congress and authored numerous articles on sales, marketing and customer service.
In addition to numerous training manuals developed for clients, Dick is the author Changes & Choices . . . a primer on life planning, The Art of the Positive . . . tapping the power of an inclusionary vocabulary, The Art of the Possible and co-author of Aging is a Series of Many Beginnings.
In 1980, he was appointed by President Ronald Reagan as the youngest member of the National Advisory Committee to the 1981 White House Conference on Aging, which he attended as a delegate and keynote speaker. He was recently appointed the National Policy Committee as a delegate at large for the 2005 White House Conference on Aging.
